Wella Trend Vision Award 2016
Trend Vision is a three stage competition the Wella Professionals puts on every year. They release two trends each year,( spring/summer and autumn/winter) with a trend brief used for inspiration and ides so you can create your interpretation of the trend. There are nearly 800 applicants in the first stage, they break the country into 4 regions,18 competitors are chosen out of those 5 people in each region win the regional finals to compete in the top 20 in the finals in London.
I chose the S/S trend called Molten Ecaille. The colour palate was soft metallic tones with mineral shades. I entered a new category called Creative Vision. This staggery was created to allow the competitors more creative freedom and focus on the overall look, (rather than the hair colour) they wanted an editorial / catwalk look.
I had the privilege of working with the fabulous fashion designer Alena Kudera Johnson www.alenakuderajohnson.com
We collaborated on the overall look so the hair, styling and colour were complimentary to the garment.
There are three stages to this competition, photographic entry, regional finals and the UK and Ireland finals.
I was very successful this year and was one of the finalists in London!! I made it into the top 20 in the whole country! Not bad for a girl who works by herself in a corner studio tucked away from the outside world ;)
During the regional finals competitors have one hour to style their model then the models are on show for the judges. You are then required to present your look to the panel of judges in a 3 minute presentation, after all the presentations are done there is an evening show where the models are on show and the 5 winners are announced. Its a brilliant day, worth all the hard work!
The finals in London are a step up. Competitors are given 3 hours to do colour work and styling, another 3 minute presentation in front of the panel of judges and then a glamours evening show held at the Roundhouse in Camden with over 600 guests for dinner and the awards. It was quite surreal being involved in all of the glam and glitz!
So finally here are the images from all three stages of the competition.
Enjoy!
